RAKHI MAKING COMPETITION – THE FUN ONE

RAKHI MAKING COMPETITION – THE FUN ONE

Festivals are a part of the Indian culture and its religion, that bring in loads of happiness and prosperity. One such festival is Raksha Bandhan which brings rakhi-making competitions for kiddos and adults as well. On the auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan (“Sanskrit, meaning the bond of protection, obligation or care”), sisters of all ages tie a talisman or amulet, called the Rakhi, around the wrists of their brothers, symbolically protecting them, receiving a gift or some money (shagun) in return, and traditionally investing the brothers with a share of the responsibility of their potential care. This festival or annual rite is observed on the last day of the Hindu lunar calendar month of Shraavana, which typically falls in August.

This festival, observed by the Hindus, brings an opportunity for the kids to participate in the rakhi-making competition, making beautiful rakhis on their own. The responsibility lies upon the parents as well as the school teachers to make them learn and practice at home is more important to excel in the competition, and teach them different ways to make rakhi and get prepared for the competition.

1. RAINBOW RAKHI

Kids love vibrant colours and the rainbow matches the same. So the first themed rakhi for the rakhi-making competition would be a rainbow rakhi. Some straight cutouts from colourful chart papers, scissors, glue, and a narrow satin ribbon are the things required for the same. A rainbow rakhi is a colourful way to bring happiness to kids, so we began offering rakhi-making ideas for kids based on rainbows.

2. FLOWER RAKHI

Flowers are cute, lovely, and beautiful as kids! You can give your kid a chance to win by using the beauty and charm of flowers in the list of these rakhimaking competition ideas. Cut out three to four flower-shaped paper from the chart papers and then decorate them using a glitter pen or glitters. Paste these flowers on the ribbon using glue and the rakhi is ready!

3. LITTLE ANIMAL TOY RAKHI

Toys baskets are filled with so many toys that kids spend a lot of time playing with. Additionally, they can use their toys to make the rakhis. Make two circular cutouts from a cloth piece or two colorful chart papers, and paste one of them from the top and one from the bottom using glue. Then paste the animal toy upon it and there you go! Your rakhi is ready.
